Rainy Lake Medical Center, Hospital Campus Laboratory Receives Accreditation from the College of American Pathologists. CAP Inspection More Stringent than Government Programs. International Falls, MN (June 22, 2009) — The Rainy Lake Medical Center, Hospital Campus laboratory has been awarded accreditation by the College of American Pathologists (CAP), based on the results of a recent on-site inspection. The voluntary CAP accreditation program consists of stringent standards of performance. A CAP-accredited lab not only meets Federal requirements, but exceeds them; the federal government recognizes the CAP program as being equal to, or more stringent than, the government’s own inspection program. “The entire community can be proud of this achievement,” says Rainy Lake Medical Center Chief Executive Officer Brian Long. “Having a lab of this quality means greater quality care for everyone.” RLMC lab staff responsible for completing requirements of the accreditation process include: Roberta Zimmerman, MD, Laboratory Medical Director; Sam Segars, Laboratory Director and Medical Technologist; Medical Technologist Cathy Christensen, Kimberly Goetz and Tammy Krzoska; Medical Laboratory Technicians Ruth Caudle and Josh Koehler; and Patty Indahl, Clinical Laboratory Assistant. “The CAP accreditation process requires a lot of work on the part of our lab team,” says Segars. “I am happy to say the entire staff recognized the importance of it and rose to the challenge.” Rainy Lake Medical Center has full-services labs at both its clinic campus and hospital campus.
