Clinic, Hospital Celebrate Coming Together in International Falls The new partnership that joins Duluth Clinic-International Falls and Falls Memorial Hospital is official this week. The organization, now called Rainy Lake Medical Center, is hosting community and employee celebrations on Thursday, July 2, to mark this important milestone. The public can attend a fun family get-together that includes lunch, live music and activities for children. The festivities will take place at the Rainy Lake Medical Center Clinic Campus (the former Duluth Clinic-International Falls) from 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. “This is not only the combination of two organizations; it’s an opportunity for the community to gain an understanding of the reason behind this relationship,” says Brian Long, the new CEO for the medical center. “This coming together will allow us to offer a more comprehensive, more capable healthcare delivery system for the community.” Long is looking forward to meeting more community members at the celebration. He plans to begin his new role in International Falls at the end of the month. He comes from South Haven Community Hospital in South Haven, Mich. Along with the lunchtime celebration for the entire community, medical center employees and their families will get their own chance to enjoy themselves at a special event later in the day. “We want to thank all of the staff for their dedication in seeing this through,” says Clinic Administrator Sheila Hart, who will become Vice President of Clinical Services on July 1. Employees and community members played an important part in making this development a reality, she says. “I’m excited to join with the community in celebrating the next era of health care in International Falls.”
