Falls Memorial Hospital and Duluth Clinic-International Falls Announce New Name
The integrated organization will be known as Rainy Lake Medical Center.
International Falls, MN (January 21, 2009) — The Falls Memorial Hospital governing board recently met for its first meetings following the January 1 integration of the hospital and the Duluth Clinic-International Falls. In order to reflect this integration, the board determined the hospital organization will now do business under a new name, Rainy Lake Medical Center (RLMC).
“The Rainy Lake Medical Center name better reflects the unity of the hospital and clinic,” says Bob Anderson, Governing Board Chairman. “In choosing the name, board members took into consideration suggestions from community members, caregivers and physicians.”
In the coming months, the board will unveil a new logo. “The community can be proud of the fact that these two organizations have come together with the goal of providing expanded healthcare services more efficiently,” says Falls Memorial Hospital Interim CEO Bonnie Erickson.
In October, 2008, Falls Memorial Hospital and the Duluth Clinic-International Falls received approval from both their governing boards to integrate in 2009.
“The partnership allows us to recruit more doctors, purchase better equipment and improve facilities, all of which will shorten the amount of time patients wait to get an appointment and create the opportunity for us to offer additional services to more patients, ”says Mike Motley, RLHC board member.
The 16-member board consists of: physicians Jeffrey Hardwig, Charles Helleloid, Douglas Johnson, Jay Knaak, J. Blair Marchuk, Anthony Stone and Jon Talsness; community members Bob Anderson, Gary Bigler, Don Billig, Rob Boyd, Susan Congrave, Norman Larsen and Gail Rognerud; and SMDC Health System administrators Mike Motley and Rocklon Chapin of Duluth, MN. |
