Rainy Lake Medical Center offers two full-service labs (Clinic Campus and Hospital Campus), providing on site testing services in the areas of hematology, clinical chemistry, urinalysis, therapeutic drug monitoring, microbiology, transfusion and coagulation.
The Hospital Campus lab is accredited by the College of American Pathologist (CAP), and the Clinic Campus lab is COLA accredited by the Commission on Office Laboratory Accreditation (COLA).
For tests not performed on site, Rainy Lake Medical Center employs a variety of approved reference labs including Grand Itasca Hospital; Lab Corp. of America; Minnesota Department of Health; and Memorial Blood Centers of Minnesota, Minneapolis.
Most of the blood components transfused at Rainy Lake Medical Center are supplied by Memorial Blood Centers of Minnesota, Duluth.
