Falls Memorial Hospital Names New Chief Executive Officer Brian Long to begin this summer; FMH and DC-IF integrate to form Rainy Lake Medical Center July 1.
International Falls, MN (May 8, 2009) — The Rainy Lake Medical Center Governing Board has named Brian Long the organization’s new Chief Executive Officer. Long was selected following a national search conducted by the board and QHR, the hospital‘s management company. The hospital has been under the direction of Bonnie Erickson, Interim CEO, since October, 2007.
Rainy Lake Medical Center, a community healthcare organization, will be formed when the Duluth Clinic-International Falls and Falls Memorial Hospital integrate July 1.
Long comes to Rainy Lake Medical Center from South Haven Community Hospital in South Haven, Michigan, where he served as Executive Vice President / Chief Financial Officer. During his tenure there, Long coordinated the project management and scheduling of a new 60,000 sq. ft. Wellness and Rehabilitation Center. Prior to that, Long was a QHR Regional Financial Analyst in Kalamazoo, Michigan, where he performed financial monitoring, reviewing, and support of 22 acute care hospitals.

Long has an MBA from Richard DeVos Graduate School of Management, Northwood University, and is currently pursing completion of his dissertation for his Doctorate in Health Administration from the Herbert H. and Grace A. Dow College of Health Professions, Central Michigan University. Long is a member of the American College of Healthcare Executives; the Healthcare Financial Management Association; and the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants.
In addition to his career responsibilities, Long is a United States Marine Corps Veteran and Rotarian.
