Emergency Department

Rainy Lake Medical Center offers physician-staffed emergency services 24 hours a day, seven days a week. As a Level IV Trauma-designated center, our staff are specifically trained to handle your emergency. The Trama rooms are also connected via e-Emergency to Avera Health to provide a full team of trauma experts ready to consult and support Rainy Lake Medical Center’s staff.

All patients arriving at RLMC are triaged by a Registered Nurse, who evaluates their condition and prioritizes their urgency. Patients arriving at Rainy Lake Medical Center by ambulance or with an emergent condition are taken directly to the ER. The Emergency Room does not treat patients on a “first-come, first-served” basis. A patient arriving after you may see the physician first depending on the seriousness of his or her condition.

You will be considered an

Emergency Room

  • Breathing problems
  • Chest pain
  • Injuries from a vehicle accident
  • Loss of consciousness
  • Severe bleeding
  • Complicated fractures
  • Overdoses
  • Convulsion or seizures
  • Whenever a patient arrives at Rainy Lake Medical Center by ambulance

Rainy Lake Medical Center is in active compliance with Emergency Medical Treatment and Active Labor Act (EMTALA) as regulated by federal legislation.
