Lights, music and holiday cheer will return to Third Street Nov. 26 for the annual Home for the Holidays Community Parade.
Rainy Lake Medical Center staff along with other community members, will again host the event, and said this year’s will be the biggest and best yet.
“After having to cancel the parade due to the pandemic last year, we want to come back strong in 2021,” said Andrea Pastor, RLMC director of special projects & strategic initiatives.
Aside from floats making their way down Third Street beginning at 6 p.m., the evening’s events will also feature live reindeer, sponsored by RLMC and The Rainy Lake Gazette; and a fireworks display, sponsored by Sanford Health and TruStar Federal Credit Union, immediately following the parade.
The parade is set to begin at 6 p.m., with treats and reindeer in Smokey Bear Park beginning at 4 p.m.
While the event is still two months away, businesses, organizations and individuals should start planning their floats now.
There will be three trophies given to floats including:
- Spectacular Sparkles Award: Given to an entry that presents an outstanding display of lights and/or other type of illumination.
- Elfin Magic Award: Given to the outstanding entry featuring children as the main part of the entry.
- Spirit Award: Given to the entry that has the most enthusiasm during the parade.
Registration forms can be found at www.rainylakemedical.com/parade. Forms are due by Nov. 22. Completed documents can be emailed to firstname.lastname@example.org, mailed to RLMC at 1400 Highway 71, or dropped off at a RLMC reception desk.
