The Rainy Lake Medical Center Foundation and the RLMC PRISMS employee giving club donated the monies to provide the RLMC Emergency Room and Med-Surgical area with Physio Control Lifepak 15 Defibrillators. Costs for these lifesaving devises totaled over $45,000. The funds raised were from the annual Foundation Golf Tournament and through the employees giving club each pay period. These new units provide the latest technology in cardiac monitoring complete with Auto BP, Spo2, Co2 and Respiratory rate. The units can do a 12 lead EKG heart rhythm and analyze if a patient is having a heart attack. These units can deliver a shock to a patient’s heart, and work as a pacemaker if the heart is to slow. The units also have Bluetooth capability and an EKG can be sent to any hospital with just the push on a button. Also, the Foundation donated the funds to purchase an Accent-1000 Speech Generating Devise (SGD) totaling over $3000. The SGD contains multiple vocabulary configurations and enables our therapists to introduce patients and their families to a functional, portable, high tech SGS so they are able to communicate. Patients that will benefit from this include, children with developmental speech and language delays/disorders, Autism, cerebral Palsy, and Apraxia of speech, as well as adults who have experienced a stroke or have a degenerative condition that makes verbal speech difficult. The foundation is currently looking for board members to help continue to raise funds to provide the state of the art equipment for the hospital.
