In an effort to expand orthopedic services and keep patients closer to home, Rainy Lake Medical Center in November will begin offering shoulder-related surgeries.
Dr. Glen Rudolph, MD, of Orthopaedic Associates, is a board-certified orthopedic surgeon, who will complete full shoulder replacement and reverse shoulder surgeries.
“This is excellent news for our patients and their families,” said RLMC CEO Robert Pastor. “One of our 2021 goals was to add shoulder surgeries to our growing list of orthopedic services, so patients no longer need to travel outside of the community. Our orthopedic team can do an extensive amount of work right here at home.”
Dr. Rudolph is a native of Duluth and received his medical degree from the University of Minnesota – Twin Cities and is a board-certified orthopedic surgeon. He also specializes in orthopedic traumatology, sports medicine, total joint arthroplasty, pediatric orthopedics, hand surgery, general orthopedics, and orthopedic oncology. He will be working with a variety of patients including individuals who require complex reconstructive procedures.
“I can take patients who have significant, chronic pain and definitively make them better,” Dr. Rudolph said. “Orthopaedic Associates is quite unique in the fact that we provide orthopedic care to most of northern Minnesota. We travel and so we can provide the care that (patients) need in their community in most cases.”
In addition, to shoulder surgeries, RLMC offers an extensive lineup of orthopedic procedures including:
- knee replacement
- rotator cuff repair
- carpal tunnel repair
- hammer toe repair
- tennis elbow
- ganglion cyst removal
- pin and screw removal
- shoulder and knee arthroscopy
At Rainy Lake Clinic, orthopedic concerns are handled by a consultation with Rio Silvernail, orthopedic PA. Silvernail is a specialist who sees and treats patients for conditions including hip or knee pain, sprains, fractures, dislocations, and joint injections.
Rainy Lake Medical Center also offers a Swing Bed program to orthopedic patients. Swing Bed means a patient’s healthcare team can change, or “swing” their level of care from acute, to skilled nursing, rehabilitation, or other skilled services as needed. Swing Bed provides the appropriate level of care while maximizing the patient’s health plan benefits.
